We run a varied programme of shows, talks and outings between February and October. Unless indicated otherwise non-members are welcome to attend. There is no need to complete any forms for the Outings. Just email Jane Fleet or call her on 01233 770189 to confirm your attendance and advise how you will pay (i.e. BACS or Cash). Cash should be put in a sealed envelope and left in the pink folder inside the Smarden Community Store for the attention of Jane Fleet

Saturday May 9th, 2026. ANNUAL PLANT SALE
10am until 12 noon. Rear of Charter Hall.
Once again, we are holding our annual plant sale at the Charter Hall where a wide selection of Flowering Plants, (annuals and perennials) and Vegetables will be available to purchase. All contributions to the above will be very welcome and should be brought to the Charter Hall car park between 9am and 9.30am on the day of the sale. Please note that the plant sale does NOT start before 10am as the committee are still setting up and pricing for the sale. This is the Society’s main fundraising event for the year, and is open to members and the public - so please tell your friends and support us by coming along on the day to buy.
We will again be accepting cash and card payments for purchases.

Thursday June 4th, 2026. OUTING - Long Barn Gardens, Sevenoaks
The gardens at Long Barn were created by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson while they lived here between 1915 and 1932. In 1932 the couple moved to Sissinghurst Castle where they created one of the most famous gardens in the world. They eventually sold Long Barn in 1945. The main gardens are approximately three acres in size and there are also four acres of paddock. The gardens are terraced and many of the paths and steps are original Depart CH Car Park at 0915 Return approx. 2.45pm . Cost £30 per person. This includes transportation with Wealden Wheels (electric bus) and the entrance fee ( includes tea/ coffee and a piece of homemade traybake cake) plus a 20 minute talk on the history of the garden and house).
